Homeschool Without Fear

We all face new situations that can trigger fear in our lives.   One such situation is the decision to homeschool.  We didn’t go into homeschooling with hesitation, but fear has crept in as the years have gone on.  As the new school year is upon us, you may be feeling some apprehension about your choice.

Fear is a natural response to unknown situations, but when we seek God, we can release the chains that hold us back from following His call.

How do we deal with fear in our lives as Christians, particularly when it comes to parenting?

First, seek out God’s will through prayer, meditation on scripture, and wise counsel.  Ask if homeschooling is what God has called your family to do.

Once you feel at peace with the choice you have made, ask yourself why you are fearful.  Are your concerns valid?

Fear crept into our homeschool because of worry over my kids missing out on certain aspects of academics.  This is a valid concern, but I let fear take control.  It was clouding out my clear call from the Lord to homeschool our children.

Homeschool Without Fear

I needed to go back and examine the reasons that we chose this path.  We wanted to disciple our children, have a close relationship with them and individualize their education.  These reasons outweigh worry over missing out on a concept or two.  Reaffirm your calling and move forward.

We can trust God.  He knows our children.  He lovingly created them and has gone before them.  He knows who and what they will become in the future.  He will equip us and make sure that they get what they need to follow His plan for their individual lives.

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  Ephesians 2:10 NIV

Don’t underestimate what God can do in your life and the lives of your children. Our God is big and He keeps his promises.  You can homeschool without fear!

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us… Ephesians 3:20 NIV

“Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning?  I, the Lord—with the first of them and with the last—I am he.”  Isaiah 41:4 NIV
