Davis Carman
H.E.A.R.T. Exam for Parents
Tests and exams are a typical part of school, even home schools. In this session, Davis helps homeschooling parents take an exam - a spiritual exam of the heart. He uses the word H.E.A.R.T. as an acronym to display truths found in the book of Malachi, which deals with very real heart issues. The topics covered by "Dr. Malachi" include relationships with both God and family. The goal is to discover the practical and faithful steps a parent can take in the journey towards turning one's heart to their children.
Davis Carman got started on his homeschool adventure with a providential two-by-four on the side of his head. Twenty years and three graduates later, he hopes to share some of the lessons he’s learned along the way to help other families enjoy the most successful, satisfying, and Christ-centered home school possible.   His mission is to help homeschooling families learn, live, and defend the Christian faith. This is accomplished in part through his work as president of Apologia Educational Ministries, the #1 publisher of Creation-based science and Bible curriculum with more than fifty #1 awards from families, homeschool organizations, and media.   Davis is passionate about his family. He married Rachael in 1986, and God has blessed them with seven children and one grandchild. So far, three children have graduated from their home school. Of those, one is a college graduate and newlywed. Davis and his family live in Waxhaw, North Carolina, where they enjoy the homeschooling adventure of a lifetime, complete with roller-coaster twists and turns and the occasional lazy river ride.   He is an international speaker and advocate for home education, having served twelve years on the board of North Carolinians for Home Education (NCHE) as well as being the North Carolina Ambassador for the Home School Foundation, a ministry dedicated to helping homeschooling families in need. He is also a founding board member of Homeschool Now USA, a non-profit organization with the goal of helping grow the homeschool population in this country from two million students to five million by 2025.   Davis has a degree in mechanical engineering from Vanderbilt University and a master’s degree from Purdue University. The first ten years of his career involved research and development in the aerospace and automotive industries. The second ten years, Davis was general manager of a growing plastics manufacturing company.   Currently a work-at-home homeschool dad, Davis will be found working late on days that he spent serving as coach, math tutor, or taxi driver to educational activities such as soccer, music, art, or young engineers lab. Davis isn’t a perfect husband or father, but he loves being with his wife throughout the day and immediately available to handle disciplinary matters or to experience an extraordinary Deuteronomy 6 moment in the course of an ordinary day.   Davis is also the author of three illustrated children’s books designed to instill a biblical worldview. Good Morning, God is based on Deuteronomy 6, and A Light for My Path is an ABC book based on Psalm 119. His latest, In the Beginning, is based on the Creation account in Genesis.   He believes that if there was ever a time to homeschool, it is now!

The battles belong to the God of "PEACE" and "BE STILL" and He will provide you with strength and courage to resist a defeated spirit. Thelma will meet you and encourage you in the midst of your battles over family, relationships, health, finances, broken dreams, disappointments, and even the busyness of everyday life that can leave us disconnected. Come and receive the tools to relinquish your troubles to the One with a guaranteed win.
Known as "Mama T," Thelma Wells is a feisty 75 year old who has been featured in D Magazine, Southern Living, The Dallas Business Journal, The Dallas Morning News, Significant Living and many more publications and TV shows including Dr. Phil, The Joanie Show, Life Today and the 700 Club. Traveling to 20+ conferences a year as a speaker, she's sought after by corporations, women’s groups and governmental entities.  She’s no stranger to the stage, having presented to over a million people in her 35 year career and spoken on the stage with the best including Zig Ziglar, Max Lucado, the late Rosa Parks, Kay Arthur, June Hunt, Serita Jakes and of course, her Women of Faith porch pals:  Luci Swindoll, Sheila Walsh, Patsy Clairmont, Marilyn Meberg, Nicole Johnson and International Singer Sandy Patti.   In 2016, she spoke for Women of Faith on the Final “LOVED” tour -- traveling to 22 cities and reaching a half a million women.  Her passion is to tell everyone that they can “BEE” their best in Christ.  A mission she’s carried out for 40 years. In 2001, she received her Masters of Divinity from Masters International School of Divinity in Evansville, Indiana.  Then in 2006, she was ordained upon receiving an honorary Doctorate from St. Thomas Christian School and Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Florida. And if that doesn’t keep her busy enough, she tapes her TV show for the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Channel 378, which airs each Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Central. This show offers a fresh perspective on today's issues for women through dialogue and teaching. She’s written 40 plus books and training manuals including: Don’t Give In – God Wants YOU to Win!, Ready to Win over Depression, Mama T Says…Rise & Shine, God Give Me Victory Over Anger! and her latest book Listen Up Beloved (which you can find on Amazon.)    Thelma’s passion to inspire everyone to “BEE” the best never slows down. Her latest venture is leading That a Girl and Friends Speakers Agency (with her daughter Vikki) to motivate, inspire, and invest in the lives of others. NOW...Thelma has launched her "GENERATION LOVE:DIVINE EXPLOSION" conference tour.  Her influence as a great grandmother is from the mantel she inherited from her great grandmother, Sarah Harrell.  Thelma delights in seeing generations of women come together who stand for Christ.  This conference will encourage women to bring their entire family from girls from age 10 on up. Her greatest accomplishment has been her family.  She’s been married to George, her childhood sweetheart for 55 years and her three children, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren look up to her as “Grammy – A Woman of God” who they can turn to for love, support and wise advice.

Love The Kids God Gave You
Do you feel like all you ever do is yell at and correct your children? And, that every time you praise them, you've already berated them 15 times? And, you're completely exhausted before you've even finished your first cup of coffee? Me too! So, what do we do?  Well, God gave you your children for a reason. They are already perfectly and wonderfully made. They are here for a purpose. Our job as parents is to harness all their quirks and intensities for good, without breaking their spirit. We are called to raise them up in the way they should go as we love them for who they are and where they are.  It's not always easy, but you can do it, and the effort is worth it!
